Balaclava brooch that's enough now
Balaclava brooch that's enough now
The little faces are painted in enamel onto old copper half pence coins from the early 1970s. I fire them at about 850 C using a gas torch rather than a kiln which means I can make one or two at a time rather than having to make enough to fill a kiln.
this one reminds me of covid lockdowns and how easy it was to feel safe behind the mask and let the polite facade slip
The brooch setting is fabricated in copper and will either be stamped to create a texture or engraved or both. the pin is a double stainless steel pin and as it is quite short can be fiddly but once it is on it is very secure.
I have been thinking about making these for a long time, which is a large part of the fun of making things and I’m very pleased with how they make me feel. There is a definitely a part of Max from Where the Wild things are in there, and a bit of Little Red Riding Hood.
they are approximately 2.2 by 3.3cm :)
uk shipping is included in the price.
